Accessibility features
- Every action works from the keyboard: arrow keys move between ideas, Tab and Enter add ideas, F2 renames, Space collapses, Alt+O opens the outline.
- Outline view (Alt+O): the whole map as an accessible tree that screen readers can read, navigate and edit.
- Screen reader descriptions for every idea (type, position, sub-ideas, status, priority, notes) and spoken announcements for changes.
- High-contrast focus outline on the selected idea; the map scrolls to keep it visible.
- Status is shown by icon shape as well as colour; coloured text is darkened to meet 4.5:1 contrast.
- Dragging is never required: the "Move under" list in the details panel moves an idea and its sub-ideas without dragging.
- Reduced-motion preference is respected: pulsing, animated links and smooth panning are turned off.
Known limitations
- Images you add to ideas don't have their own text descriptions. Use the idea title or notes to describe them.
- On the dark and blueprint backgrounds, small ideas drawn without a bubble (in the Bubbles and Sketch styles) may have lower contrast. Use a light background if you need maximum contrast.
Assessment
Conformance was self-assessed by the Meridian Canvas Studio team, using automated tests and manual keyboard and screen-reader checks. Last reviewed October 2026.
